  If you didn't know this place was here you would drive right by.   The decor is very interesting with a music, car theme.  They have nice big booths, so parties of 6 or maybe even 8 could easily fit.    
  
  My husband started with the tomato basil soup which was extremely hot.   It was good, but a little too sweet.  He had a patty melt which was very good.  He didn't even eat the whole thing it was so big.   I had a fried buffalo chicken sandwich.  At first I was disappointed that it was two chicken tenders with sauce poured over them, but once I tasted it, I was no longer disappointed.   The bun was super fresh and the chicken was tender and the sauce had just the right zing.    Both meals were served with fair fries, at a more than ample portion.   Our iced tea tastes more like water which was our really only negative.
  
  Service was very good and when I had first ordered a turkey Reuben but had asked if it was deli turkey or fresh roast turkey, she thought it was fresh roast.  Kudos to her for asking the cook and learned that it was deli turkey and told me so that I could change my order
  
  Update:  Stopped in again on August 26 and everything was equally as good as last time.   This time I had the Philly Cheesesteak Wrap, made with chicken and it was served piping hot and had lots of flavor.   My husband had the same patty melt as last time and enjoyed it again.   He did try the chicken paprikash and although it was decent he said he has had much better.

  After a long day at work and stopping off at the folks to knock an item off my honey do list.  I called my baby to meet me at Sal and Al's.  We arrived at a 7:50 and the place closes at 8:30 on Mondays. Instead of turning us away the waved us in.  I had the meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and gravy.   She is had a pizza that the re rolled the dough to thin it out for her.  She is not a Chicago style girlThe food is awesome you have a selection of comfort food, pizza, and polish.   But what's better than the food is the desserts    They take the flavors of ice cream and makes awesome ice cream pies.  Today I just did peaches and cream ice cream. I took it home so they can close up on time.  No rush just common courtesy.

  I stopped in for the Lorain County Best Burger Battle. Since I can only vote for one this review might be a bit more nitpicky than usual as I compare and decide a winner.
  
  First off, cute little diner with old school decor theme of cars and records. Also 5 stars for the service received. Our young server was personable, helpful, and patient. Reasonable prices too, the food however...
  
  The Pierogi Burger came with American cheese, a pierogi, bacon, grilled onion, and sour cream. You also got fries for $9.99. This burger was good. I liked the seasoned burger patty with secret spices (something red, paprika?), however it was not a fresh made patty. Loved the homemade cheese and potato pierogi, but it's not made there. They bring it in from some place in Cleveland. Bacon was crispy, bun was grilled and buttery, and I enjoyed having sour cream to moisten things up. Fresh cut fries are a bonus too. I just can't give this burger high marks when my favorite thing was the pierogi they didn't even make (didn't make the burger patty either). I would eat this burger again, but it has to rank in the middle.
  
  We also tried their Syrian Plate $13.99 which came with thick warm pita, red pepper hummus, rice, spinach pie, salad and a kibbeh. They hadn't made the kibbeh yet (disappointing) so we got an extra hummus to replace it. I was not a big fan of this dish and did not eat any of the leftovers. We got their Chicken Paprikash $11 to take home. No issues reheating this in the oven, but the dumplings were too mushy for me and neither of us really cared for the sauce in this dish either. I've just had better for both meals elsewhere.
  
  HOWEVER, I would give this place a second try as the service was great and I'd love to eat more of those pierogies! Cool that they have several different pierogi themed dishes.

  Very nice dinner. My food was hot & tasty. Service was friendly.
  Not many customers here @ 3:50 pm on a Saturday. I would come back again and try other items on the menu.

  Sal & Al's restaurant is very quaint and comfortable. The ambiance is quiet & relaxing. Food is well worth the trip, nothing fancy, just good comfort food! Shout out to Cindi, she was very welcoming & friendly... as we all know, hospitality is half of the pleasure of dining out! Look forward to stopping in again.... menu is full of scrumptious, fun food!
